Açai bowl

For sure you have seen several beautifully decorated açai bowls on your Instagram feed. Did you know that açai (a-sa-ie) is a small dark berry that grows in large clusters on the açai palm in and around Brazil. This small exotic fruit is a great source of important nutrients and antioxidants. Closer to home, you can find the berry in powdered and in pulp (frozen) form. We are big fans of the frozen version.

  • level: easy peasy

How to make it

  • 1

Add all the ingredients together in the blender.

  • 2

    Blend long enough until smooth.

  • 3

Pour the mixture into a bowl.

  • 4

Finish off with a generous handful of granola.

  • 5

Do you have time to turn it into a festive breakfast? Then you can finish it off with e.g. coconut rind, poppy seeds, slices banana, strawberries, raspberries, .... or even colourful fresh edible flowers.

Tip: Adding two tablespoons of Greek yoghurt afterwards is also very tasty. This gives it a soft, almost creamy finsih.

I'm in a hurry Tip: In the supermarket, you will find two delicious açai mixes from The Holy Berry, to which you only need to add a little water or fruit juice.
